Wide-median dual carriageway designed by Arup and managed by Wicklow County Council, which commenced construction in Q1, 2002. The contractor SM Morris together with our Joint Venture partner John Sisk & Son. The project includes almost 14km of new dual carriageway along a new route for the N11 National Primary route bypassing both Ashford and Rathnew.
The principal elements of the project were as follows:
- 14km of new dual carriageway and 13km of associated side roads
- 13 new bridge structures spanning roads, rivers and a railway
- Very extensive earthworks including 1.5 million cubic metres of rock
- Extensive accommodation works for landowners along the route
